warning to would be software developers

 

As a software developer you will be working in an irrational world. A world where bosses seldom, if ever, give positive feedback and constantly look for things to complain about. This oddly enough is somewhat like God, God rarely gives positive feedback. It's pretty much you screwed this up, you won't pay attention to me, you won't do what I tell you to do. But with bosses the strange thing is if you do a fantastic job that customers love and get things done in a reasonable time frame that will just make your boss all the less happy. It's irrational. It doesn't make any sense except from your boss's perspective. They always need something to complain about, because they're not going to give you a good review, because they're not going to give you very much of a raise. This cycle of, I must complain and then give a low review and then give a small raise, will pretty much go on your entire life, unless you're one of the rare exceptions.
