Zech.3

[1] And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
[2] And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
[3] Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
[4] And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

 

Throughout your life you pick up a lot of Filth. It's spiritual, you can't see it. But it lingers around you and it can impact you as you get older. So prayer and faithful belief in Jesus will help minimize the crud. But it doesn't appear you can completely get rid of it until you die. It may linger off in the corners somewhere and then try to jump on you from time to time. It isn't clear exactly how it works, but it doesn't appear to me that you can completely clean up and just completely eradicate your past in this life. Maybe it can be done, but it doesn't look like it. Where you get cleaned up is when you go to heaven. Now you want to pray often and ask for forgiveness of your sins. And getting those sins washed clean means that you're acceptable to God when you go to heaven through Jesus Christ, but this crud is different stuff. It's stuff that either clings to you or tries to jump back on you from the past. From all the situations you've been in, all the people you've known all the things going on throughout the greater picture of society, which cling to all of us and damage Us in some small way. 

As an example throughout my lifetime the federal tax system has made changes that have affected the whole country. Those changes generally are very evil, and they want to cling to you and damage you. The leaders of the government will tell you that they're not trying to be evil or damage you, but they're lying. They're lying to themselves, they're lying to you, and they're lying to the country. This is just one tiny example of the hypocrisy and stupidity of humanity. I hate to think of all the idiotic things that I probably have done and not even realized it. So this isn't just to pick on the government or try to say something negative about the government. The government does tons of negative stuff, but so does everybody.
