artificial intelligence
For my lifetime the scientific and computer community have been obsessed with artificial intelligence. Making computers act like people. They spend zillions of hours designing and developing systems to act like people. But I'm unaware of any effort to produce artificial evolution. If evolution created human beings, think about how much more useful an artificial evolution program would be? It could create all kinds of incredible stuff that could come alive. We can have a computer program that creates life by simulating evolution. Why aren't we obsessed with that?
