true appreciation

 In my lifetime I felt true appreciation on a few occasions. One job I was working tech support. In tech support or in any support job where you're working on the phone and working emails the goal is to close tickets. There's always a new stream of tickets and keeping that stream moving is incredibly important. One problem is that you may be able to close tickets quickly but then they may reopen immediately if you don't actually solve the problem. People just keep calling back in or sending in more emails even though you temporarily close the ticket.

One day I was sitting next to one of my co-workers and we were talking about how many tickets we've been getting lately. How it seemed to be getting busier. He looked over at me and said in a very matter of fact voice, you are a closing machine.
