 Chess is a challenging game. The initial beginner level play just involves moving the pieces correctly. It seems like the knight(horse) gives people the most trouble.

There are a whole bunch of technical terms for the different types of scenarios that you look for in attacking or defending. One of the challenging things about the game is attacking while you're defending. When you think about military strategy quite often we get the idea that one side is attacking and the other side is defending. And in Chess it is generally acknowledged that white is attacking because it always moves first. But there are all kinds of terms like momentum and cadence that signal the tide may have turned and black may be attacking.
