mini space heater

 This space heater costs about $12. It's very small. It uses about the same energy as the old 300watt light bulbs.

It won't heat an entire living space, but...

IF a small apartment is well insulated it will augment the regular heater. The question is, does it lower the overall use of energy?

This mini space heater is placed near the apartment thermostat. This blows hot air near the thermostat giving it a false reading. Then the heat from the mini heater also circulates into the rest of the apartment. So this thing is on 24/7. But it provides a small amount of heat continuously. The apartment is cooler but not cold. And the heater rarely comes on in the apartment. Basically it appears to come on two or three times per night, rather than two or three times per hour. Plus I'm in bed Undercovers so it doesn't really matter that much if the apartment is cooler at night. 

My guess is the overall energy usage will be the same, but it is a little bit quieter than having the apartment heater turning on constantly.
