tires
Tires are kind of turning out to be a big deal. Historically I've lived in an area where all season radials worked fine especially if you had all wheel drive. You could put all season radials on there and away you go. Also the area that I lived at before you actually drove on snow about 7 days out of 365 days. So this area I'm living now you drive on snow quite often during the Winter for about 5 months . Which makes tires a lot more critical. And right now I have on sort of some generek all season radials that don't do well on snow at all. In fact it's almost like sledding when you get on snow with these things . You quickly realize that you are out of control on any downhill grade. No but another big problem for me is I'm cheap. So that means having 2 sets of tires is very expensive. A all season radial and then a Winter tire. So that's sort of a problem. I don't have an answer for right now. Another problem is if you look at used tires. A lot of times what they're trying to sell you is a $150 winter tire for $80 or $90. OK well you can go to Walmart and get a $90 brand new Winter tire that isn't the super fantastic $150 tire but it's still brand new. For the super cheap O guy you want a sort of the $90 Walmart tire used for 30 bucks plus installation of balancing so then you're getting in the 2nd set of tires for maybe $300 Max. Ideally like 250.. Well that's not gonna happen so it's kind of a tough deal.
Currently the answer has been to not drive very much in the Winter and stay on the generic tires. This is really. In fact it's so irritating it's tempting to actually live month to month somewhere else in the Winter. Especially from November through April. Well if you look it that's 6 months . So living somewhere else half the year seems kind of strange.
