Your basic retirement needs are met by your social security check.

401k's, pensions, and any other money is extra.

So you have a basic strategy and then an extended strategy. The basic strategy is survival on social security.

The extended strategy is paying your basics on social security and then going out to eat, vacations, a new car are all paid by 401k, pensions, and other money.

 The benefit of this approach is it tremendously reduces stress. All that other stuff is extra. You can eat rice and beans on social security. Love Jesus be happy. As you get older stress is a massive negative. Now they're always yacking about slashing social security. And if Jesus has them do that, there's nothing you can do to stop Jesus. So just be thankful regardless of what happens. But generally speaking these guys are buying your votes, so they're not going to cut their own throats. Get it? votes throats?
